Antique Native American Indian Sioux Beaded Book CoverOffering na antique old lakota sioux? Indian beadwork book cover. I thought the beadwork looked like plains, when i opened the book a catholic missal, i found an old article from the lakota times wasu duta (red hail) of porcupine, s. D. Wrote to the paper about a march that was starting in mexico with marchers carrying sacred fire and how for over four hundred years we have lived in darkness -a darkness that was brought upon us from europe. Also he mentions recently to the west of us, eldesr took up their pipe and prayed for their young. Those young boys gve tehir lives that the people lived. This may be about pine ridge in the 1970's i don't know. The missal si dated 1944 and the cover fits like a glove on this book.
The bead work is on a satin-like fabric htat looks 1940's-50's to me as well. Measurements 8 1/2 inches long by 6 inches.
Condition the beadwork cover is excellent condition, the missal is in opor condition, the covers are coming loose. My shipping quote includes tracking & insurance. The missal's leather cover and binding have rubbed off quite a bit on the interior and it has stains. None of the stains are viisble on the exteriro where the bead work is. Photo 6 shows the true color of the beadwork, photo 8 shows nice detail os the handstiching on the interior of the cover. |
